Bonn

The city’s most famous son still sets the tone. In 1770, Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn and his birthplace is still one of the city’s most popular museums. The orchestra of the "Beethoven Halle" and the annual "International Beethoven Festival" keep memories of the great composer alive and honour his heritage in a very special way.

For many years, Bonn was the capital of the Federal Republic of Germany and in the centre of German history and culture.

The unique "Museumsmeile", an impressive conglomerate of museums, depicts in a vivid way the cornerstones of German contemporary history. The "Haus der Geschichte" home to the exhibition on the history of the Federal Republic of Germany and the "Bundeskunsthalle", home to temporary art exhibitions are only two examples of the various museums awaiting your visit.

The government district is located in close proximity to the "Museumsmeile". This is the place to explore Bonn’s political past as federal capital and visit the former "Plenarsaal". Where once politicians engaged in heated debates, today international conferences are being held.
Also, Bonn is an ideal  for a romantic riverboat tour on the river Rhine.
